Forest School Level 2

Our Forest School Level 2 qualification is designed for individuals who want to assist in delivering Forest School sessions but do not yet wish to become a fully qualified leader. Here’s an overview of the information, aims, and accreditation of the course:

Information

It is suitable for teaching assistants, parents, or anyone who wants to support outdoor learning but not lead sessions.

  • The course consists of theory-based learning, practical outdoor skills, and an assessed portfolio.
  • It includes aspects of child development, risk assessment, outdoor learning techniques, and sustainability.

Aims

  • To develop an understanding of Forest School principles and ethos.
  • To gain basic practical outdoor skills, including tool use and fire lighting.
  • To support the delivery of safe and engaging outdoor learning experiences.
  • To understand the role of play and exploration in outdoor learning.
  • To learn how to conduct risk assessments and ensure safety in natural environments.

Accreditation

  • The Level 2 Forest School Assistant qualification is accredited by recognized awarding bodies,
    • AIM Qualifications & Assessment Group (AIM accredited)
  • It is a nationally recognized qualification in the UK and meets industry standards.
  • It is often a stepping stone towards the Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification.
